Twenty-two senior military officers serving under Operation Hadin Kai in Borno State were promoted by the Nigerian Army.
The officers were honored at a ceremony held at the Theatre Command officers’ mess at Maimalari cantonment on Friday.
Major General Waidi Shuaibu, the Theatre Commander, and AGL Haruna, the General Officer Commanding 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 Operation Hadin Kai, oversaw the promotions, which saw seven officers elevated to brigadier general, one to commodore, and fourteen to colonel.
During the event, Major General Shuaibu emphasized the importance of courage and perseverance in fulfilling their duties, given the increasing security challenges in the country.
The theater commander encouraged the newly promoted officers to align with the Nigerian Army’s operational strategy to effectively establish peace and stability across the nation. Maj. Gen. Waidi Shuibu, the Theatre Commander Joint Task Force, North East, Operation Hadin Kai, urged the officers to develop innovative strategies to address the complex security challenges in the region.
The decorated officers, including seven colonels promoted to brigadier generals, one navy captain to commodore, and 14 lieutenant colonels to colonels, which were congratulated by the Permanent Secretary of the Government House, Barr. Mustapha Ali Busuguma.
Busuguma expressed gratitude on behalf of the state government and people for their well-deserved promotions and wished them success in tackling the security challenges in the state.
In an interview, Navy Commodore Abdullahi pledged to rededicate himself to protecting the country’s territorial integrity and restoring peace in the North East and other operational areas.
Navy Commodore Mohammed Ahmed Abdullahi, a distinguished naval officer with over two decades of service, is a member of the 47 Regular Combatant Course in the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA). Commissioned as a Sub Lieutenant into the Nigerian Navy in August 2000, he expressed his commitment to ensuring peace not only in the North East region but across the entire country.
