Nigeria, U S Launch Precision Air Strikes on Foreign ISIS Cells in North-West

Borno State Government

ABUJA — In a decisive show of force against transnational terror, the Armed Forces of Nigeria, working in close coordination with the United States, has carried out precision strike operations on identified foreign ISIS elements operating in parts of North-West Nigeria.

Defence Headquarters confirmed that the operation was executed with the approval of appropriate Federal Government authorities, marking a major escalation in efforts to deny foreign terror networks any foothold within Nigeria’s borders.

Military sources said the strikes followed actionable intelligence and meticulous operational planning, designed to cripple the capabilities of the targeted cells while minimising collateral damage. The mission forms part of broader, sustained counter-terrorism actions aimed at dismantling networks that threaten national stability and regional peace.

Officials described the operation as a clear message to foreign fighters seeking to exploit Nigeria’s security challenges: the country, backed by strategic partners, will respond swiftly and decisively.

“The operation underscores our resolve to confront transnational terrorism head-on and prevent the expansion of foreign extremist influence on Nigerian soil,” Defence Headquarters stated.

The Armed Forces reiterated their unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, stressing that joint and inter-agency collaborations remain central to restoring lasting peace and security across the nation.
