Nigeria Stands Firm: No Foreign Military Bases on Our Soil – CDS Gen. Christopher Musa

Katsina state government

In a decisive statement reinforcing Nigeria’s sovereignty, Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has declared that no foreign nation will be permitted to establish military bases in any part of the country.

Speaking during a high-profile security briefing in Abuja, Gen. Musa emphasized Nigeria’s capacity to handle its security challenges, dismissing the need for external military presence. “Our sovereignty is non-negotiable. We have the resources, the personnel, and the resolve to protect our nation,” he affirmed.

The statement comes amid growing speculation about foreign military interests in West Africa, particularly in response to regional instability. Gen. Musa reiterated that Nigeria would instead prioritize strategic partnerships and capacity-building initiatives with allies to bolster its self-reliance in defense.

Observers see this as a bold move to uphold national pride and ensure that Nigeria remains in full control of its territorial integrity.
