New MNJTF Commander Assesses Troops in Monguno

The new Force Commander (FC) of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Major General Godwin Michael Mutkut, has undertaken a crucial operational assessment visit to Sector 3 in Monguno, Nigeria. The visit, conducted on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, signals a fresh commitment to enhancing security and counter-terrorism efforts in the Lake Chad region.

Welcomed by Sector 3 Commander, Major General Mohammed Babayo, General Mutkut received a comprehensive briefing on ongoing operations, strategic plans, and prevailing challenges. He commended the troops for their unwavering dedication and resilience, emphasizing the need for continued vigilance and discipline.

“The recent mass surrender of Boko Haram fighters is a strong indication that we are making significant progress,” he stated, urging the troops to maintain momentum in their operations. He also addressed concerns about illicit drug use among soldiers, calling for strict awareness and intervention measures.
