A new chapter has opened for residents of Sardauna Housing Estate following the formal inauguration of newly nominated executive members of the Sardauna Housing Estate Residents Association.
The colourful yet solemn handover ceremony, held at the Central Masjid of the estate, marked the end of an era and the beginning of renewed leadership, as the outgoing chairman, Alhaji Hamza Ketare, formally transferred the mantle of leadership to the incoming executives.
Established to promote unity, harmony and peaceful coexistence among residents, the Sardauna Housing Estate Residents Association has also played a vital role in strengthening security, improving welfare services and advancing the socio-economic well-being of people within the estate.
Those inaugurated into the new leadership include former Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Musa Rabi’u Mahuta, as Chairman, with Engineer Isah Musa serving as Vice Chairman. Alkali Nura Elladan was named Secretary, while Barrister Najib takes up the role of Assistant Secretary.
Other members of the executive include Engineer Usman Kabir as Treasurer, Ibrahim Badaru Jikamshi as Public Relations Officer, and Alhaji Umaru Immaculate as Adviser. Chairmen of sub-committees and ex-officio members were also unveiled as part of the new leadership structure.
In his farewell address, Alhaji Hamza Ketare expressed deep appreciation to residents for the trust and cooperation extended to his administration. He urged the community to give full support to the new executives to enable them to deliver greater development across the estate.
He explained that the association operates through a central executive council supported by four key sub-committees—Security; Mosque and Islamiyya; Water Supply; and Clinic—each responsible for day-to-day activities and periodic reporting.
Highlighting achievements of the outgoing administration, Alhaji Ketare noted the introduction of regular meetings, improved communication through structured master-plan programmes, collaboration with security agencies to enhance safety, and sustained engagement on water supply challenges within the estate.
The outgoing leadership also advised the new executives to sustain frequent consultations with residents and to initiate community clean-up campaigns to improve environmental sanitation and overall living conditions.
Responding, the new chairman, Alhaji Musa Rabi’u Mahuta, assured residents of the commitment and dedication of the new executive team. He pledged to uphold the objectives of the association and build on existing achievements.
The former Permanent Secretary further appealed for continued support, guidance and cooperation from residents, stressing that collective effort remains the key to effective leadership and sustainable community development at Sardauna Housing Estate.
