The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has kicked off a comprehensive six-day training workshop focused on Strategic Planning and Team Building for its personnel in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The capacity-building initiative, spearheaded by the Commission’s Research and Planning Unit, aims to strengthen strategic thinking, enhance teamwork, and foster a more collaborative workplace culture — all in line with NEDC’s broader vision for workforce excellence and effective service delivery.
Speaking at the opening session, Managing Director/CEO of the NEDC, Mohammed Goni Alkali, applauded the training programme and reiterated the Commission’s dedication to the continuous professional development of its staff. He stressed that human capital development remains a cornerstone of the North East Stabilization and Development Master Plan, and assured employees that further training opportunities would be rolled out across all levels.
Alkali urged participants to embrace the workshop as a platform to realign with the Commission’s goals and contribute to building a more productive and responsive institution.
Also addressing the participants, Executive Director of Administration and Finance, Dr. Garba Iliya, hailed the timing and relevance of the programme. He encouraged staff to fully engage in the sessions, emphasizing that the knowledge and skills gained would not only enhance individual growth but also drive institutional performance.
The six-day workshop is scheduled to conclude on Saturday, August 9, 2025, and is expected to serve as a model for future training initiatives aimed at transforming public sector efficiency in the region.
