The Katsina State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has renewed its call for young people to avoid drug abuse and reject all forms of illicit drug trafficking.
This appeal was made by the NDLEA State Commander, Sama’ila Danmalam, who was represented by Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics, Muhammad Sale Gumal, during a one-day rally and dialogue held at the Women Training Center (WTC) Katsina. The event was organized by Queen Dijjah Women and Children Awareness Initiative in collaboration with the NDLEA and the Katsina State Department of Drug Narcotics and Human Trafficking.
As part of the program, ASC Mustapha Mai-Kudi delivered an insightful lecture on the dangers of drug abuse among youth and the wider societal consequences of addiction.
In his remarks, Comrade Hussaini Usman Rafukka, the founder of Youth Initiative Against Drug Abuse and Human Trafficking, emphasized that the event aligns with the global observance of the United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. He reiterated the need for continued grassroots engagement to curb the menace.
Also speaking at the event, Ambassador Khadija Suleiman Saulawa, founder of the Queen Dijjah Initiative, lamented the growing rate of drug abuse among young people and women in the state, calling for stronger community and parental involvement in prevention efforts.
A major highlight of the event was the distribution of specially designed notebooks to participating students, showcasing messages about the dangers and long-term effects of drug abuse.
