The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended a serving officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for his alleged involvement in an armed robbery incident in Abuja, which left a Bolt driver wounded.
According to reports from security analyst Zagazola Makama, the incident unfolded in the early hours of Friday, May 9, 2025, around 12:10 a.m. A distress call was made from City View Estate in the Galadimawa area, alerting police to an ongoing robbery attempt.
Sources revealed that the suspect, an NDLEA Inspector attached to the FCT Command, allegedly tried to hijack a Toyota Corolla with plate number KWL 736 SZ, being driven by a Bolt driver identified as Mr. Israel Emeka. The officer reportedly pulled a locally made pistol on the driver during the ride and attempted to forcefully take over the vehicle.
In the course of the struggle, the suspect allegedly shot Mr. Emeka. The injured driver was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi, where he is currently receiving treatment.
Police officers from the Galadimawa Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, quickly mobilized and arrived at the scene, managing to arrest the suspect on the spot. A locally crafted firearm along with two live cartridges were recovered from him.
Investigations into the case are ongoing as authorities work to determine the motive and any potential accomplices.
