NDLEA Deploys Body Cameras, Promotes 5,042 Officers

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) is set to deploy body cameras for its officers, enhancing the integrity and safety of their strategic operations.

This announcement was made by NDLEA Chairman/CEO, Brig-Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), during a ceremony in Abuja on Wednesday where several officers were decorated with new ranks.

“We will be deploying body cameras for the use of our officers on strategic operations to ensure their safety and the integrity of such operations,” Marwa stated.

In a bid to further strengthen the agency’s effectiveness, Marwa revealed the establishment of five strategic commands in Lagos, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Apapa, and Tin Can Island.

Additionally, 5,042 personnel were promoted, including two senior officers to the rank of Deputy Commander General of Narcotics (DCGN), 22 to Assistant Commander General of Narcotics (ACGN), and 66 to Commander of Narcotics (CN).

Marwa assured that these promotions followed rigorous examinations and interviews and promised improved working conditions for all personnel.

This move signifies a major step in the NDLEA’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and enhance law enforcement across Nigeria.
