NCFMI Distributes Food Items to IDPs in Katsina

The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons ( NCFRMI) has empowered over 700 IDPs in Katsina State.

Speaking during the flag-off and distribution, held at the Premises of Katsina State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the Federal Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugee Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Alhaji Aliyu Tijjani Ahmed said they were in Katsina State to assist the internally displaced persons that were displaced as a result of Boko Haram insurgency, banditry kidnapping and national disaster with food to reduce the hardship they were facing.

He said that the Commission was established to assist and support migrants and internally displaced persons in all parts of the country”.

In his remarks, the Katsina State Deputy Governor, Farouk Lawal Jobe urged donor agencies in the country to extend their gesture to people in the state to improve their well-being.

He noted that the assistance would go a long way in assisting the internally displaced persons.

Lawal said that the state government was happy with the gesture and commended the Commission for its initiative to provide aid to the IDPs in the state.

He used the occasion to call on people to intensify prayers for peace and coexistence in the state as the holy month of Ramadan was fast approaching.

Lawal charged those responsible for distributing the items to the fair in distributing them while discharging their responsibility by ensuring that the items were distributed to those that they were meant for”.

On her part, the Katsina State Executive Secretary, of the Tate Emergency Management Agency, Hajiya Binta Dangani thanked the federal government for the assistance and assured the state government of its readiness to do justice while distributing the items.

Aisha Umar from Jibiya Local government who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries thanked the federal government and the state government for the assistance.
