In a major boost to Nigeria’s digital infrastructure and education sector, the Nigerian Communications Commission NCC has officially handed over a cutting-edge Information Communication Technology (ICT) Park to the Federal University of Transportation, Daura (FUTD).

The ICT facility, unveiled on Tuesday by NCC Executive Chairman Dr. Aminu Maida, features a 100-seat capacity hall, five ICT hub halls, a 24-seater lounge with high-speed computer workstations, and multiple innovation spaces—all under one roof.

Dr. Maida described the project as one of six flagship digital infrastructure initiatives strategically rolled out across key institutions nationwide, designed to propel ICT innovation, foster research, and drive Nigeria’s digital economy.

“This is not just a building; it’s an ecosystem for innovation,” Maida said. “It will serve as a one-stop hub for digital entrepreneurship and indigenous tech development.”

The park is equipped to support advanced learning in railway engineering, logistics, and transport technology—areas central to FUTD’s academic focus. It also integrates emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things to prepare students for the future of smart mobility.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Umar Adam-Katsayal hailed the development, promising responsible use of the facility for both academic and community benefit.

“This ICT park is a game-changer, not just for FUTD but for the entire Daura community,” he said.

The initiative aligns with the National Digital Economy Policy and the strategic vision of the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, to position Nigeria as a digital leader in Africa.

“One Roof, All Possibilities” has come to Daura—and the future of digital innovation looks brighter than ever.
