The Nasser International Forum has announced a historic milestone in global youth engagement, revealing that Latin American participation in the upcoming fifth edition of the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership has reached an all-time high. With 42 young changemakers from 14 countries applying, this marks the largest Latin American turnout in the fellowship’s history — a development hailed as a major boost for Egypt’s soft diplomacy and international youth leadership initiatives.
Hassan Ghazaly, anthropological researcher and founder of the Nasser International Forum, described the turnout as “unprecedented,” noting that participants from 11 of the 14 applicant nations were selected following a rigorous evaluation process. “This is more than just numbers — it’s a strong message that Latin America sees Egypt as a trusted hub for empowering youth, deepening international ties, and building leadership for global good,” Ghazaly stated.
He emphasized that the surge in Latin American interest not only enhances the fellowship’s diversity but also reinforces Egypt’s standing as a global platform for nurturing young leaders and shaping policies centered on sustainable development, cooperation, and youth-driven diplomacy.
The upcoming edition, scheduled for May, will be held under the theme “Egypt and the United Nations: 80 Years Representing the Issues of the Global South” and under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. It will convene around 150 youth leaders from across the globe — a vibrant mix of professionals, policymakers, and grassroots changemakers.
With Latin America’s dynamic contribution, the fifth Nasser Fellowship is set to be a beacon of cross-cultural dialogue, South-South cooperation, and transformative leadership — all in the spirit of building a more connected and empowered generation of global leaders.
