The Government of Nasarawa State has called on Dangote Industries Limited to expand its footprint in the state’s economic landscape by investing in additional sectors beyond sugar production.
This appeal was made during the ongoing Nasarawa Trade Fair Exhibition, where Governor Abdullahi Sule, represented by the Commissioner for Trade, Industry, and Investment, Hon. Muhammed Sani Otto, highlighted the state’s vast solid mineral deposits and strategic location. He noted that a strengthened partnership with the Dangote Group would significantly contribute to Nigeria’s industrial development goals.
Hon. Otto lauded the impressive strides made by Dangote’s Nasarawa Sugar Company Limited (NSCL), emphasizing that its success is a testament to the company’s potential for further impactful investments in the region.
Also speaking at the event’s Dangote Special Day, Chairman of the Nasarawa chapter of the Nigeria Association of Small-Scale Industrialists (NASSI), Nidan Sambo Manasseh, praised the Dangote Group for its sponsorship and noted the trade fair’s positive economic impact. He encouraged the conglomerate to explore other promising sectors in the state.
“This exhibition is more than a marketplace—it is a powerful driver for Nasarawa’s economic resurgence. The event is perfectly aligned with Governor Sule’s vision to attract investment and ignite sustainable development,” Manasseh stated.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Investment, Hajiya Khadija Oshafu Nuhu, reiterated the state government’s readiness to facilitate business opportunities, saying Nasarawa is open for investment and offers a compelling environment for growth.
In a statement issued by Mr. Anthony Chiejina, Chief Branding and Communication Officer of Dangote Group, the company reaffirmed its commitment to Nasarawa State, noting that the sugar project under NSCL remains a cornerstone of its investment strategy.
“Nasarawa is a key component of our national operations,” Chiejina said. “Once fully operational, the NSCL project will rank among the largest sugar initiatives in Africa.”
Fatima Wali Abdurrahman, Senior Special Adviser to the Group President, also emphasized the importance of the company’s engagement in the fair. She confirmed that several Strategic Business Units (SBUs) within the Group were actively participating, including Dangote Fertiliser Limited, Dangote Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria, Dangote SinoTruck, Dangote Sugar Refinery, NASCON (Dangote Salt), and Dangote Cement Plc.
