The National Association of Nigerian Students NANS has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the governors of Bauchi, Katsina, Kano, and Kebbi states to reverse their decision to shut down schools for five weeks during the Ramadan fast—or face mass protests across the country.

In a strongly worded statement, NANS described the move as a direct attack on students’ right to education, warning that any attempt to disrupt the academic calendar under the guise of religious observance would not be tolerated.

“We respect religious obligations, but education must not suffer. If these governors fail to act, we will mobilize students for nationwide protests to defend our future,” the statement read.
