Atiku Isah Drags President’s Son, Security Agency, Broadcasters to Court

Detained President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Atiku Isah, has slammed a staggering N38.3 billion lawsuit against Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinibu, the Department of State Services (DSS), and top executives of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), accusing them of abduction, illegal detention, and brutal torture.

The suit, filed before a Federal High Court, claims that Isah’s fundamental rights were grossly violated following his controversial arrest during a student protest in Abuja. He alleges that he was whisked away by operatives acting on the orders of politically connected figures, subjected to inhumane treatment, and denied legal access.

Joined in the suit are the Director-General of the DSS, Yusuf Magaji Bichi, and NTA bosses whom the plaintiff accuses of broadcasting “a manipulated narrative” to discredit him.

Isah is demanding N30 billion as general damages, N5 billion for aggravated damages, N3 billion in exemplary damages, and N300 million for medical expenses resulting from alleged torture.

The case, already stirring reactions among civil society and student groups nationwide, is poised to test the boundaries of power, press freedom, and human rights enforcement in Nigeria’s democratic landscape.
