The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has placed a nationwide ban on the sale, circulation, and use of 101 medicines.
In a public notice, the regulatory body disclosed that the affected drugs were either voluntarily withdrawn by manufacturers or had their registrations cancelled or suspended by the agency. Consequently, the products are no longer authorised for production, import, export, marketing, or medical use within Nigeria.
Among the prohibited medicines are widely used brands, including Abacavir/Lamivudine tablets, Amaryl M tablets, Artemether/Lumefantrine tablets, Salbutamol inhalers, and Zidovudine tablets, among others.
NAFDAC said the action underscores its commitment to protecting public health and ensuring that only effective, safe, and high-quality medicines remain in circulation.
The agency has uploaded the complete list of the affected drugs on its website, urging pharmacists, medical practitioners, and members of the public to check the list and strictly adhere to the directive.
