Recruits of the Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) 45/2024 of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) have completed their rigorous Initial Bush Camp Exercise at the Military Training Centre (MTC), Kaduna — a grueling test that pushed them to their physical and mental limits.
Held from 29 September to 4 October 2025, the week-long field training marked a key milestone in their transition from classroom learning to real-world combat preparedness. The exercise featured intense drills in day and night navigation, ambush operations, patrols, tactical manoeuvres, and tent striking — a rapid-camp dismantling skill critical in counter-insurgency warfare.
The highlight of the event was a 20-kilometre inter-squadron cross-country race, where endurance, teamwork, and grit were on full display. The C-130 Squadron clinched the top position, earning praise from the MTC Commandant, Air Commodore Mohammed Lawal, who commended the recruits’ discipline, adaptability, and readiness to serve.
Lawal also acknowledged the vital collaboration with 1 Division Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police, and the Federal Road Safety Corps, noting that such partnerships enhance joint operational efficiency.
According to a statement posted on the NAF’s verified X handle, the successful completion of the Bush Camp underscores the Air Force’s commitment to deliberate training and mission-oriented force development — a key pillar of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar’s vision.
