Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has arrived in Maiduguri on a crucial operational visit amid renewed security tensions rocking the North-East.
The high-stakes visit comes as concerns mount over the resurgence of attacks by insurgent groups in the region, prompting urgent military reassessment and strategic engagement.
On arrival at the Borno State capital, the Defence Minister was received by top military commanders, including the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Abdulsalam Abubakar, and the General Officer Commanding/ Sector One Commander, Ugochukwu Unachukwu, alongside other senior officers.
This marks General Musa’s first official visit to the theatre of operations since his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, signaling a renewed push by the Federal Government to confront evolving security threats head-on.
Sources indicate that the visit is aimed at assessing the operational readiness of troops, boosting morale, and reviewing ongoing counter-insurgency strategies under Operation Hadin Kai.
With the North-East once again under pressure, all eyes are now on the Defence Minister’s next moves as Nigeria intensifies efforts to contain the growing insurgency and restore lasting peace in the troubled region.
