A multi-vehicle accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway on Friday triggered severe traffic congestion, bringing movement to a crawl along the busy Berger inward Secretariat corridor.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident, noting that several vehicles were involved in the crash. Despite the scale of the collision and the resulting gridlock, officials said no casualties were recorded.
Motorists heading toward the Secretariat and adjoining routes were stranded for hours as emergency responders and traffic officials worked to clear the affected stretch and restore vehicular flow. The accident quickly drew attention on social media, with images and videos showing long queues of vehicles stretching far beyond the Berger axis.
LASTMA urged road users to remain patient, comply with traffic directives, and consider alternative routes where possible as clearance operations continued.
