In a bid to bolster regional security cooperation, the Force Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force MNJTF, Major General Godwin Michael Mutkut, paid a strategic visit to Chad’s defence leadership on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
During his visit, Major General Mutkut met with the Chadian Minister of Armed Forces, Veterans, and War Victims, His Excellency Issaka Malloua Ndjamous, and the Chief of General Staff, General Abakar Abdelkerim Daoud. The engagements focused on reinforcing the collaboration between MNJTF and Chad’s military leadership in tackling Boko Haram and restoring stability across the Lake Chad Basin.
Addressing his hosts, Major General Mutkut highlighted MNJTF’s ongoing counterterrorism efforts and unveiled a new strategic framework aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness. He commended Chad for its unwavering support, emphasizing that joint efforts have been instrumental in dismantling terrorist strongholds, particularly through the successful execution of Operation Lake Sanity 2.
The Chadian Minister of Defence lauded the MNJTF’s achievements under Mutkut’s leadership and urged continued momentum in the fight against insurgency. He specifically noted the task force’s resilience in reclaiming lost territories, underscoring the importance of sustained military pressure on terrorist elements.
Similarly, General Abakar Abdelkerim Daoud assured the MNJTF of Chad’s unwavering commitment, pledging to strengthen cooperation and operational readiness within Sector 2. He hailed the Force Commander’s proactive approach and reaffirmed Chad’s dedication to regional security, emphasizing the MNJTF’s role as a symbol of unity among Lake Chad Basin nations.
With growing coordination and renewed strategic direction, the MNJTF and Chadian defence leadership are poised to intensify their collective push to eradicate Boko Haram and secure lasting peace in the region.
