In a major victory against insurgency in the Lake Chad Region, troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force MNJTF under Sector 3 Monguno have secured the surrender of seven suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Damasak, Borno State.
The individuals, identified as Mallam Baba Ibrahim (19), Malam Bamai Ali (20), Mallam Jundu Ali (19), Mallam Abba Ali (25), Mallam Abubakar Mohammed (20), Tijjani Ali (20), and Mallam Ali Mommudu (25), voluntarily laid down their arms at Walada village following sustained military offensives.
Among the weapons surrendered were two RPG tubes, four RPG bombs, an AK-47 rifle, an HK 21 German machine gun, and 715 rounds of ammunition. They also handed over mobile phones, solar panels, and other tactical equipment. The former insurgents confessed their involvement in terrorist activities across Northern Borno and cited exhaustion from the conflict as their reason for surrendering.
MNJTF officials confirmed that the surrendered fighters are providing valuable intelligence and reiterated calls for more terrorists to lay down their arms in the interest of peace and security in the region.
Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Chief Military Information Officer, HQ MNJTF, N’Djamena, Chad, emphasized the MNJTF’s commitment to eradicating terrorist networks and restoring stability.
