MLGEA Organises Two-day Workshop For A Ts, Budget Officers

The Katsina State Ministry for Local Government and Emirate Affairs has organised a Two – Day Workshop on Computer Training and Optimisation for staff of the Ministry and the 34 Local Government Councils.

The participants in the Workshop include Assistant Treasurers and Heads of Budget Units of the 34 LGAs of the state.

The Workshop was aimed at making the participants to acquaint themselves with Computer Appreciation, Data storage and Optimisation, particularly on Budget Preparations and Allocations for their respective LGAs.

The session was organised through the office of Director Budget of the Ministry with Doctor
Salisu Ladan Garewa of the Federal University of Transport Technology, Daura as a Resource person.

Speaking at the opening of the Workshop, the Special Adviser Local Government Inspectorate Hon. Lawal Safana explained that the workshop was to reshaping the roles of the participants and

pointed out that the importance of the Computer Machines allocated to Budget Units, was to assist the LGAs to ensuring clean and acceptable Data collection, storage, Preparations, allocations and Budget formation for their respective LGAs.

The Special Adviser also disclosed that the Budget Offices of the LGAs have been networked with that of the Resident Inspectors and the Ministry to properly monitor the level of compliance by LGAs regarding Budgetary provisions on projects and the likes.

The State Local Government Auditor General , Alhaji Shu’aibu Aliyu represented by a Director of the Department Alhaji Buhari Saminu stressed the importance of the workshop, as according to him, and charged the participants to ensure compliance and conduct themselves accordingly.

The Resource Person Dr. Salisu Ladan Garewa showcased the importance of Computer Appreciation and Optimisation for the participants with regards to Budgetary allocations to ensure accuracy.

In a welcome address, the Director Budget of the Ministry Alhaji Babangida reminded the participants that, Budget Offices have been created for the smooth Operation of preparing and formation of Budgetary allocations in each LGA across the state to ensure presentable Budget before depending it before the State House of Assembly.

Present at day one of the Workshop were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Alhaji Mas’udu Banye, Director Administration and Supply Alhaji Bello Fago and other Directors of the Ministry.

Highlight of the occasion was the distribution of Laptop Computer Machines to Budget Units Heads of the LGAs.
