Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Friday narrowly escaped a major disaster after a minor fire outbreak swept through its Public Relations Unit.

The incident, which occurred around 1:40 pm, was reportedly triggered by a sudden power surge. Quick intervention by personnel of the Corps, supported by the Disaster Management Unit, prevented the fire from spreading to other parts of the Command’s headquarters.

Despite the swift response, the blaze destroyed several valuable items, including an electronic podium, laptop, office chairs, a canopy, electrical wiring, and some vital documents.
