MILITARY STRIKE IN PLATEAU: Troops Nab Militia Suspect, Recover AK-47, Ammo in Dawn Raid

Katsina state government

In a swift and coordinated operation, troops of the Nigerian Army’s 3 Division and Operation Safe Haven stormed Hura village in Bassa LGA of Plateau State, arresting a suspected militia member and recovering weapons linked to recent deadly attacks.

The early Friday morning raid, carried out on May 30 following actionable intelligence, led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, a loaded magazine, 26 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, suspected charms, and N2,500 in cash from the suspect’s hideout.

Military sources revealed that the arrested individual is part of a notorious syndicate believed to be behind the gruesome killing of a herder and the rustling of 1,250 cows in Tomborong village, Riyom LGA, just three days earlier.

“The suspect is in custody and is cooperating with military investigators to expose other gang members and uncover more hidden arms,” a security source confirmed.

Troops have since intensified manhunt operations to flush out remaining criminal elements terrorizing rural communities in Plateau.

This latest success underscores the military’s resolve to dismantle armed militias threatening peace and stability in Nigeria’s Middle Belt region.
