KATSINA — Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Katsina State Command, have foiled a deadly midnight attack by suspected armed bandits in Gidan Soda village, Dandume Local Government Area, neutralising two suspects after a fierce gun duel.
The incident occurred in the early hours of February 17, 2025, when armed assailants reportedly stormed the community, shooting sporadically and fatally wounding a 30-year-old woman, Hassana Muhammad, before security forces arrived.
Acting swiftly on distress information, the Divisional Police Officer mobilised operatives who, in collaboration with the military and the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), engaged the attackers in a heated exchange of fire.
Police said the superior firepower of the joint security team forced the hoodlums to flee, abandoning two of their members who were neutralised during the confrontation. A Boxer motorcycle believed to belong to the suspects was also recovered at the scene.
The Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and bravery, reaffirming the Command’s resolve to sustain aggressive synergy with sister security agencies to rid the state of criminal elements.
Efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects as investigations continue.
