Midnight Raid Thwarted in Niger: Security Forces Foil Kidnapping, Suspects Flee Empty-Handed

Borno State Government

Swift action by security forces has foiled a kidnapping attempt in Niger State, forcing armed suspects to flee and abandon a motorcycle and other items in Mashegu Local Government Area.

Security sources said the incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on January 24, when unidentified armed men stormed the residence of Alhaji Abdullahi in Kusoko Village, attempting to abduct two of his sons—Abubakar Audu and Alhaji Saidu Audu.

“The victims raised the alarm during the attempted abduction, which forced the assailants to abandon the operation and flee after inflicting injuries,” the source said.

In their hasty escape, the suspects reportedly left behind a Houojoe motorcycle, two mobile phones and a power bank, now recovered by security operatives.

The injured victims were rushed to the Ibbi Health Care Centre, where they are receiving medical attention and are said to be in stable condition.

Security patrols have since been intensified in the area as investigations continue to track down the fleeing suspects, amid renewed efforts to clamp down on criminal activity across rural communities.
