Midnight Raid Shakes N’Djamena as Security Forces Uncover Massive Arms Cache

Borno State Government

The streets of N’Djamena were jolted on Sunday as Chadian security forces swooped on suspected criminal hideouts, uncovering a huge cache of weapons in a coordinated crackdown that sent shockwaves across the capital.

In the intelligence-led operation, joint teams of internal security agencies stormed locations in the 10th arrondissement and parts of the 2nd arrondissement, areas long flagged for illicit activity. What they found underscored the scale of the threat lurking beneath the city’s calm.

By the end of the raid, operatives had seized 28 pistols, 14 additional firearms, and more than 1,000 rounds of assorted ammunition. Also recovered were military-grade equipment and six vehicles believed to be connected to organised crime rings.

The net quickly tightened. Two suspected gun owners were arrested at the scene and taken into custody for intensive questioning, as investigators moved to unravel the networks behind the weapons haul.

A senior security source said the operation, conducted under the supervision of top security authorities, was part of a wider offensive to dismantle criminal gangs and choke the flow of illegal arms into the capital.

“This is a decisive warning,” the official said. “The era of unchecked arms trafficking in N’Djamena is over.”

The dramatic seizure has reassured residents, many of whom see the raid as a bold signal that the state is tightening its grip on insecurity and reclaiming the streets from criminal elements.
