Mend Fences, Build Benue Together — Shettima Appeals

Borno State Government

Vice President Kashim Shettima has made a passionate appeal to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, and the Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, to set aside their differences and work in unity for the progress of the state.

In a statesmanlike call for reconciliation, Shettima urged the two leaders to “mend fences and work together,” stressing that the people of Benue deserve peace, stability, and purposeful leadership.

“Let’s build Benue together; Benue deserves peace,” the Vice President declared, underscoring the need for collaboration over conflict in advancing development and restoring public confidence.

The appeal comes amid growing concerns over political tensions in the state, with observers warning that disunity at the top could undermine governance and slow down critical interventions.

Shettima’s intervention is seen as a timely move aimed at fostering harmony, strengthening institutions, and ensuring that Benue’s development agenda remains on track.

Political stakeholders and residents alike are now watching closely, hopeful that the message of unity will translate into concrete steps toward reconciliation and collective progress.
