In a dramatic political shake-up that has sent shockwaves across Katsina State, the entire structure of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has reportedly collapsed following the defection of all 34 Local Government party chairmen to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The mass defection was led by no other than former Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa, who has emerged as the key political arrowhead driving realignment efforts across the state.

The defection, which took place during a high-powered political meeting in Katsina, marks a major blow to the NNPP ahead of the 2027 general elections, effectively dismantling its grassroots network in one fell swoop.

Addressing supporters and journalists, Dr. Inuwa declared:

“This is not just about politics. It is about building a credible alternative for Katsina State. The ADC represents hope, unity, and a new direction, and that is why these dedicated grassroots leaders have chosen to join us.”

Political observers say the move signals a growing wave of momentum behind the ADC in Katsina, especially as prominent figures like Dr. Inuwa continue to reposition the party for future contests.

Meanwhile, reactions from the NNPP hierarchy remain muted as the party grapples with the sudden collapse of its local structures.

With Katsina’s political terrain shifting rapidly, one thing is certain — 2027 just got more interesting.
