For decades, the three water locked communities of Tagali, Masaba and Karasuwa-Galu, had agitated for construction of roads to link their communities to the outside World without success.
In a statement by Mamman Mohammed the DG press and media affairs to governor Buni said, some of the agitators died with their dreams unfulfilled, while others lost hope, until the Gov. Mai Mala Buni administration came to their rescue and awarded contracts for the construction of the roads.
Fifty-two years ago when the Gashua-Nguru federal highway was being constructed during the defunct North Eastern state, the people of Karasuwa-Galu campaigned for the extension of the road to the community but to no avail.
The community kept its dream alive all through the various administrations of the defunct North Eastern state, the old Borno state, and 32 years into the creation of Yobe state.
Similarly, the Chumbusko – Tagali road remained unmotorable for decades and gets worse during the rainy season, denying the ancient town of Tagali much development.
Masaba community suffered the same fate with equal measure of difficulty in transporting goods and services and conveying the sick to hospital in Gashua.
Several generations suffered this difficulty and did not live to see its end by the Buni administration.
The Yobe state government under His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni CON, COMN COMN in 2023 commenced construction of the road to end the age-long difficulty suffered by the people.
It is gratifying that the state government has reconstructed the dilapidated Danchua-Jajere road, promoting social and economic lives of the people.
With some of the roads already completed and others nearing completion, socio-economic activities in the benefitting communities have already been on the increase promoting employment and wealth Creation.
Similarly, the new roads have reduced the activities of middlemen who take advantage of the difficult terrain to exploit the farmers who now transport their produce to Gashua and Nguru markets with ease.
