A chieftain of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Kudla Milinda Haske, has praised Nigerians for showing empathy and rallying around the Maiduguri flood victims without minding political parties, describing the gesture as a good omen.
Speaking during a sympathy visit to Government House with journalists in Maiduguri, Milinda Haske made a significant donation of ₦19.5 million to support the victims of flood disasters.
According to him, he underscored the importance of unity and togetherness, saddened by the magnitude of destruction caused by the flood in Maiduguri and its environs. The carnage, the loss of lives, the loss of properties, and the unimaginable displacements are heart-wrenching.
“I donated my widow’s mites, a sum of N19.5 million, to support the flood victims. Borno belongs to all of us, and we believe that it will be stronger and better.
He saluted the Nigerian corporate entities and individuals for their unwavering support to the Borno State Government and the people.
The generous contribution across political parties is unparalleled. I will say that this flood disaster has brought all political parties together, and this is good because this shows we take humanity before our interest.
The things are much more devastating, and the fact that across several communities, the flood has wreaked havoc, even people are calling me from Southern Borno that their rice was at the point of harvest and homes were submerged. The demonstration of unity amidst diversity is truly commendable.
