The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has declared an all-out war on crime, activating sweeping security measures across the state in a bold move to tighten the noose on criminal elements.
Led by Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, the Command announced a massive scale-up of intelligence-driven operations, with heavily armed patrol teams flooding streets, highways, waterways, forests, and farmlands in a 24-hour surveillance blitz.
The operation, in line with the directive of the Kayode Egbetokun, has seen strategic stop-and-search points mounted across flashpoints, while tactical units have been repositioned for swift strike and rapid emergency response.
In a coordinated show of force, the police are working hand-in-hand with the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Department of State Services, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to smoke out threats and seal security loopholes.
Spokesperson DSP Timfon John said the Command has also launched aggressive community engagement, urging residents to stay alert and act as the eyes and ears of security agencies.
