…insists on single term presidency tenure

The Labour Party Presidential Candidate in the 2023 elections, Mr. Peter 0bi has called on the opposition parties in Nigeria to come together to form a formidable capable of wrestling power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to the LP’s flag-bearer,
the coming together of the oppositions is not for the sake of overdraft arrangement, but for the purpose of working together for the interests of Nigerians, and to equitably serve them generally.
He said, “We ‘ll not be working together for the purpose of overdraft, if that is the case I won’t be part of it. We are coming together to serve Nigerians better, we believe that Nigerians are not being served better today. We want to come together to work for the interest of Nigerians in such a manner that none of us should work for self-interest”.
Mr. Peter 0bi was speaking in Bauchi weekend when he paid a courtesy call to the State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, after his mission’s visit principle of supporting education of pupils and students in Bauchi state.
Obi has earlier visited the Malikiya College of Nursing Sciences and a Taufizul Qur’anic School in Bauchi where he donated N10 million and N5 million respectively in support of pupils and students education, and held talk on the topic “Youth and Leadership Opportunities” at the Forum of S.U.G President, of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi.
The LP presidential hopeful to the Bauchi Governor, “As you I’m in this state today in line with my policy of supporting critical areas that you mentioned development with, so I do visit nursing schools, colleges of medicine, Islamiyya and Almajiri schools where I saw what has impressed me”.
“I saw where pupils were taught the Holy Qur’an, I think the best pupils in terms of intelligence, because in terms years, they could cram and recite the Hole Qur’an. That means we go to meet them there with Mathematics, English, everything, and we produce the best of doctors, scientists, engineers, and do forth”.
“But, I cannot come to Bauchi without paying a courtesy call to my brother, friend, and a member of all of us that are in the opposition group. It is important that we work together, it is not a matter of us, it is about our country”.
“And politics must change, it must be politics of development, politics of competence, politics of capacity and compassion, where we care for the people, so that we can talk and continue to talk about the problems of the country, how we can solve them together and iron our differences”.
Mr. Peter Obi at the occasion also reassured Nigerians of his earlier pledge to serve for one term in office if afforded the opportunity to clinch to the presidency comes 2027 general elections, saying “I want serve Nigeria for only four years”.
Obi noted that what remain for the South Nigeria is only four years, after four years of the outgoing incumbency comes 2027, emphasizing “We should even stop at going about the second term tenure in office, let’s perfect constitutionally- a single five-year term in office at every level of governance in the country”.
