The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has a new helmsman. In a symbolic handover ceremony, Commandant Abbas Dan-Ile Moriki, Acti, Anim, officially assumed office, taking over from Commandant Aminu Datti Ahmad, fsf, MADM, FCAI.
The event, marked by the presentation of the command flag and official documents, saw the outgoing commandant express gratitude to Almighty God and commend the officers and men for their unwavering support during his tenure. He urged them to extend the same loyalty and cooperation to his successor.
In his maiden address, Commandant Moriki pledged to uphold the vision of the NSCDC Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, in safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure. He further assured Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON, and the people of Katsina of his dedication to deploying effective strategies for enhanced security across the state.
A native of Moriki in Zurmi LGA of Zamfara State, Moriki’s academic journey began at Umaru Danjeka Model Primary School before moving to Government Secondary School, Koko, Kebbi State. He later earned his B.A. (1995) and M.Sc. Economics (2001) from Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto.
A seasoned security professional, Moriki has served in key roles across several states, including the Anti-Vandal Unit in Kano, Administration Department in Sokoto, and as Second-in-Command in Zamfara and Jigawa States. He also held the post of Commandant of Administration at NSCDC Zone 2 Headquarters, Kaduna.
His credentials are further bolstered by membership in professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Taxation and the Nigerian Institute of Management. He has also undergone advanced training in intelligence, counter-terrorism, insurgency, mine surveillance, civilian protection, and disarmament at prestigious institutions, including the Nigerian Army Peacekeeping Centre, Jaji.
Married with children, the new Katsina NSCDC boss enjoys counseling and traveling in his leisure time.
