In a recent interview, a high-ranking official condemned Alhaji Nasir Aminu’s ongoing criticisms of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, as a selfish attempt to misrepresent a leader chosen by Allah and lawmakers alike. The official emphasized that Abbas ascended to his role through due process, supported by his wealth of experience and deemed suitable by his peers to lead the legislative body.

He highlighted that the House of Representatives is a diverse institution, comprising lawmakers from various backgrounds, religions, and ethnicities, and that the Speaker’s role is to guide this body, a responsibility that requires exceptional leadership.

The leader dismissed Aminu’s remarks as baseless, accusing him of unjustly targeting Abbas for decisions largely driven by the executive branch. He urged critics to understand the Speaker’s limited role in policy decisions like NNPC’s monetary policies, which are brought forward by the executive and debated by lawmakers as a collective body.

“Aminu’s comments are nothing more than a manifestation of selfishness and sycophancy,” the official declared, urging caution in public discourse. He warned that such displays of hatred towards leaders, especially those from Northern Nigeria, erode respect for authority and foster societal unrest.

The leader called on Ambassador Dr. Rufa’i Mukhtar Dan-maje to intervene and mediate between Aminu and Speaker Abbas, stressing the importance of unity, respect for leadership, and the pursuit of a better future for Northern youths.

He concluded by urging northerners to focus on constructive dialogue and refrain from casting unwarranted aspersions on respected figures, emphasizing that respect for leaders is essential for societal harmony and progress.
