The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a landlord over an alleged violent assault on a female tenant, leaving her hospitalised with serious injuries.
The incident, which occurred along Hospital Road, reportedly involved a dispute between the victim, Rachael, 31, and her landlord, identified as Akong Henry, which escalated into violence.
Police sources disclosed that the suspect allegedly attacked the victim with a sharp object during the altercation, inflicting injuries to her head and left arm, leading to heavy blood loss.
Acting swiftly on the report, operatives of the Command moved in, rescued the victim—who is now receiving medical attention—and apprehended the suspect.
Spokesperson Timfon John confirmed that investigations are ongoing, assuring that justice will be served.
The Command condemned the attack, warning against all forms of violence and urging residents to embrace peaceful conflict resolution while reporting disputes to appropriate authorities.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to safeguarding lives and property, calling on the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies.
