Authorities in Lagos have begun a full-scale investigation into the mysterious death of an 80-year-old Colombian man, identified as Quesada Vanegas Ricardo Alfonso, whose body was found in a hotel room in Festac Town.

The lifeless body of the foreign national was discovered on May 1 around 3:45 p.m. in Room C85 on the 8th floor of the Golden Tulip Hotel. Following a distress call, a team of police officers and homicide detectives swiftly arrived at the scene to begin initial inquiries.

Early findings indicate that the deceased had been lodging at the hotel for over four months prior to his death. No visible injuries or signs of violence were observed on the body.

The remains have been transferred to the morgue at Mainland General Hospital in Yaba for autopsy, while a coroner’s inquest has been initiated to aid further investigations.

As part of procedural checks, some hotel staff were briefly held for questioning due to lapses in guest documentation but have since been released.

Police officials have assured the public that investigations will continue to uncover the exact circumstances surrounding the death.
