A professional hairstylist identified as Sebastine Timothy has been shot dead by suspected armed robbers in the Satellite Town area of Lagos State.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred on Sunday night along Olasanoye Street, shortly after Timothy returned home from work. According to eyewitnesses, the armed men invaded his apartment, dispossessed him of valuables, and allegedly transferred money from his bank account before shooting him in the head.
Residents said the attackers operated for several minutes without interference, as the area was thrown into panic. Timothy was rushed to a nearby hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival.
While some eyewitnesses believe the attack was a robbery operation, others suspect it could be cult-related, alleging that the gunmen may have been targeting Timothy’s brother, said to have links with a local confraternity.
Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Command said investigations were ongoing to determine the exact cause and those behind the killing.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed that the command was yet to ascertain whether the fatal wound was caused by a gunshot or machete attack, but assured that detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, had taken over the case.
Meanwhile, residents of Satellite Town have continued to lament the growing insecurity in the area, calling on the Lagos State Government and police authorities to strengthen patrols and improve night-time surveillance.
Timothy’s death adds to a worrying rise in violent attacks in parts of Lagos, including recent armed robberies in Ojo and Ijanikin, where hoodlums have targeted artisans, small business owners, and residents in late-night raids.
