Kyari Breaks Silence: “I Served God and Country, Not EFCC”

Katsina state government

Former NNPCL Boss, Mele Kyari, has debunked viral reports suggesting he’s in EFCC custody, describing the claim as “clear mischief” and a “calculated attempt” to mislead the public.

In a personal statement released Saturday, Kyari declared, “I served not only my country but also God. I am happy to account for my stewardship.” He confirmed he’s currently on a “well-deserved rest” following the recent dissolution of the NNPCL board and management.

Kyari, who spent 34 years in the oil industry, including nearly six years at the helm of the NNPC/NNPCL, stressed that his service was guided by a deep fear of God and accountability. “If I do not account before man, I will account before Allah,” he stated, reaffirming his readiness to respond to lawful inquiries.

He warned that disinformation could damage investor confidence, urging media platforms to verify their stories before publication. “The resort to disinformation does not serve anyone’s purpose,” he added.

Kyari concluded by thanking friends and family for their concern and reaffirmed his availability to address any legitimate concerns.
