
Kwara State Government has urged the aggrieved parties in the crisis over Hijab usage in Ijagbo to embrace peace and respect government’s lawful directive.
OSecretary to the State Government, Professor Mamman Jibril made the call when he led a government delegation to persuade the people of the community in Ijagbo ,Oyun local government area of the state.
He commiserated with the people over the aftermath of the controversy at the Oyun Baptist High School Ijagbo in which one person died and others sustained varying degrees of injury.
Professor Jibril charged the residents of the community to live peacefully and harmoniously with each other to prevent the recurrence of the ugly situation.
He advised them against reprisals which will only lead to a cycle of violence and damage to the economy of the area.
Professor Jibril noted that the crisis will have been averted if those involved had obeyed the rules and regulations in Kwara State public schools on the use of Hijab for willing Muslim students.
In his remark on behalf of the Onijagbo , the Olora of Ijagbo High Chief Mudashir Ajiboye said the leaders will continue to prevail on their subjects to ensure peaceful coexistence.
