KWANKWASIYYA SHOCKER: KWANKWASO, GOV ABBA YUSUF SET TO JOIN APC — ROGO

Borno State Government

Kano politics was thrown into fresh turmoil on Sunday as a top Government House official disclosed a far-reaching agreement that could redraw the state’s political map.

The Director-General, Protocol Directorate of Kano State Government House, Abdullahi Rogo, revealed that a decisive meeting with the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly and leading members of the Kwankwasiyya movement ended with a consensus that Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf should defect to the All Progressives Congress.

Rogo said the high-level engagement, held behind closed doors with lawmakers of the Kano State House of Assembly and influential Kwankwasiyya figures, focused on political realignment and stability ahead of upcoming electoral battles.

“After our meeting with the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly and other members of Kwankwasiyya, we agreed that Kwankwaso and Governor Abba K. Yusuf should join the APC,” Rogo stated.

If carried through, the move would mark one of the most dramatic shifts in Kano’s political history, uniting two of the state’s most powerful political forces under the ruling party’s banner and potentially reshaping alliances across the North-West.

Political watchers say the development, if confirmed by the principals involved, could trigger mass defections, recalibrate legislative dynamics in Kano, and send shockwaves through opposition ranks nationwide. For now, Kano waits — as whispers of a political earthquake grow louder.
