A Two-day Training Workshop for Local Government Staff has kick started on Monday at the Auditorium of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University Katsina.
The Training Workshop was organized by the state government with a view to training local government staff who will inturn participate in Ward/LG Community Development Committees.
Declaring the training workshop open, the State Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda represented by the Supervising Commissioner of the Ministry for Local Government and by Chieftaincy Affairs Alhaji Bishir Tanimu explained that the Training was in preparation towards inaugurating Community Development Committees at Ward, local and state levels.
According to him, the training was designed to select the best local government dtaff to be appointed and deployed to serve in the Ward and local government Community Development Committees across the 34 LGAs of the state.
,”The Community Development Committees were aimed at introducing Community driven approach in the development and implementation of strategic policies for the LGAs and the State and also afford the opportunity to utilise the structure to involve the communities in identifying their needs for the intervention of the three tiers of government.” He said
The Governor disclosed that the participants were selected from the payroll and the nominal roll of the unified local government from GL 08 to GL 10, adding that at the end of the training, a competency test will be conducted to select the best for the assignment.
Speaking at the occasion, the Lead Training Consultant Dr. Haroun explained to the participants that the training was meant to make them more useful to the community and gain from their experience.
Dr. Haroun also pointed out that the aim was to bring back the Community Development Committees at local level, institutionalize it and involve the participants in a way that will make it successful.
The Acting State Chairman of ALGON who is also the Chairman of Danja local government area Hon. Rabo Tambaya expressed appreciation to the state Governor and the MLGCA for initiating the first in history training workshop for LG Staff.
He pointed out that the training was meant for the staff to come together and evolve viable ways that will make them decide positively for their own people.
