Katsina State Government is set to partner Lorentz– a Germany-based company, to eliminate water-borne diseases and train local youth in renewable energy technologies.
The Managing Director of Katsina State Water Board, Dr. (Engr.) Tukur Tingilin Hassan revealed this during a strategic technical visit to Lorent Headquarters in Henstedt-Ulzurg, Germany, today.
According to Dr. Hassan, this initiative is designed to provide water to underserved communities, generate sustainable revenue and potentially position Katsina as a pioneering state in achieving the United Nations’ safely managed drinking water targets,” Dr. Hassan stated.
Dr. Hassan stressed that the provisional approval for this partnership was given by Katsina State Government through the Lorentz local partner in Nigeria, Cynosure Global Limited.
He stressed, Katsina State Water Board is targeting setting up water sales points in different areas across the state to ensure clean and safe water is sold to the citizens and avoid contamination.
“In line with Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s vision, this partnership will eliminate potential water-borne diseases and provide opportunities for local youth training in renewable energy technologies,” he added.
“In a similar vein, Lorentz has offered to nominate Katsina State personnel for specialized training in March, 2025 and has expressed interest in establishing a training and production facility within the State, subject to sustained collaboration,” Dr. Hassan continued.
Lorentz is a Germany based company specialized in solar water pumps for private, commercial and agricultural water supply schemes.
The company also produces innovative equipment for the renewable energy drinking and other water supply value chains.
This partnership symbolizes Katsina State Government’s strong commitment to innovative solutions, sustainable development and improving citizens’ quality of life.
