KTSG Signs Housing Investment MoU with NMRC

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda PhD CON, has witnessed a pivotal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing with the Nigeria Mortgage Refinance Company (NMRC) PLC.

The MoU is in line with the State Government vision for strategic housing sector development and affordable housing investment framework.

The agreement, signed at the Government House, Katsina, establishes a collaborative pathway to transform the state’s housing landscape by creating an enabling environment for sustainable housing investments.

Present during the signing were NMRC’s Managing Director/CEO Mr. Kehinde Ogundimu and Head of Business Operations and ICT Mr. Taofeeq Olatinwo while Katsina State Government was ably represented by the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport.

Following the Executive Council’s approval of the Housing Sector Policy in 2024, this MoU represents the next crucial step in implementing critical reforms designed to stimulate private sector participation and attract substantial investments into Katsina State’s housing sector.

This new development will usher in a joint Working Committee comprising representatives from Katsina State Government and NMRC to develop customized project objectives for the state’s housing sector.

Additionally, this will ensure the successful passage of the draft Katsina State Mortgage Administration Law.

On the other hand, the NMRC has committed to providing comprehensive support through technical assistance for law implementation, coordinating support from sectorial stakeholders and development partners, and potential mortgage refinancing for eligible loans meeting uniform underwriting standards

Governor Radda expressed profound appreciation for NMRC’s collaboration, emphasizing the state government’s commitment to this transformative initiative.

“This partnership represents more than a housing project; it’s a strategic pathway to create affordable housing, generate employment, and drive internal revenue generation,” the Governor stated.

The MoU positions Katsina State at the forefront of innovative housing sector development. This promises to unlock unprecedented opportunities for citizens and investors alike.
