The Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has on Saturday during Executive Council Meeting approved various projects Worthining about 8,629,636,749.49 billion Naira.

The State Commissioner for Information, Baba Halilu Dantiy explained that during briefing of the outcome after the sitting to journalists.

Baba Dantiye said the approvals were made during the state’s weekly executive council meeting presided over by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the perminent Council meeting chamber

The commissioner added that the projects include Revocation and Re-award of contract for the construction of Post Midwifery Institute at Gezawa Local Government Area (770,858,450.39) and Reconstruction and Renovation of Defective Wall/Fence and Surroundings at Nassarawa Emir’s Palace (99,928,541.63) with Rehabilitation of water supply infrastructure at Government House (126,987,787)

“The Executive Council approved the Pipeline extension to Kwanar Yan Shana and Unguwar Rimi communities (116,000,000) where release of funds for procurement of essential drugs and welcome packs for newborns (165,000,000),Repair of 18km old water pipeline at Dambatta LGA and its Environs (129,636,102) by the Council.”

“Our amiable Governor has approved the construction of 138No. new hand pump boreholes under the second phase of PEWASH programme State Matching Project (193,000,000) and Payment for excess workload allowances to the two state-owned universities, ADUDT and YUMDUK (447,621,640.79) then commenced the Construction of Magistrate courts complex at the premises of Gidan Murtala (259,143,824.08)likewise Procurement of fertilizer by the 44 Local Government Councillors (5,073,840,000).

Furthermore the Governor approved of completion of community hospital at Kadawa quarters in Gwale LGA (61,852,719.02), Renovation & Upgrading of D-ward for the establishment of sickle cell unit at Murtala Muhd Specialist Hospital, Kano (81,621,546.76),Construction/Renovation works at Infectious Diseases Hospital to accommodate the new Kano State Centre for Diseases Control (64,825,000.83),Construction/Renovation works at School of Health Technology, Kano (35,064,433.28).

“We approved the construction/Renovation works at College of Nursing, Kano and Midwifery, Dambatta (28,525,132.14) also the rehabilitation of Hostels and Toilets at NYSC Orientation Camp Kusalla, Karaye LGA (22,521,312.96) and Renovation of Administrative block and construction of staff quarters at Nigerian Law School (Kano Campus) Bagauda Kano (68,566,227.02),Construction of Demarcation wall dense at the existing graveyard situated at Rijiyar Zaki (Makabartar Byepass) Ungogo LGA (63,353,469.51).”the Commissioner admits.

Others projects approved by the state Executive Council are Renovation/Construction and Conversion works at former offices of KASUBA, Policy Strategy and Implementation Directorate behind Coronation Hall (99,869,599.46),Construction of Fence, Gate, and Gate House at Ghari College of Education and Preliminary Studies (GHCEPS) (46,535,666.84),General renovation works at Isolation Centre, Yargaya, Dawakin Kudi LGA (17,400,345.39),Purchase of 4No. fairly used Toyota Hilux and 10No. Motorcycles for official use by the Federal Fire Service Kano Command and Joint Task Force (163,632,500),

Finally the sitting approved the Purchase of Operational Vehicles to enable the State Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) execute its planned revenue generation drive (241,927,868.06) and Reconstruction/Conversion of Gidan Murtala ground floor to accommodate a new ministry (196,853,158.99)

The commissioner of imformation said “these projects aim to enhance the state’s infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security and others.
