Kidnapped Councillor Regains Freedom in Kaduna

Katsina state government

Relief has returned to Gwantu community in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State as Mr. David Ali, councillor representing Gwantu Ward, has regained his freedom after several days in captivity.

Family sources confirmed on Thursday in Kafanchan that Ali was released by his abductors in the early hours of Tuesday, around 4 a.m. He was immediately rushed to a hospital for medical attention, where doctors say he is responding well to treatment.

The councillor’s abduction, which occurred on September 5 at his residence in Unguwan Dagachi, Gwantu, had thrown the community into deep anxiety. His safe return has now sparked jubilation among residents, who had been fervently praying for his release.

While details surrounding the release remain sketchy, community members and political associates have expressed gratitude that Ali is alive and recovering.

Authorities are yet to officially comment on whether a ransom was paid or if security operatives played a role in securing his freedom.

For now, the people of Gwantu are celebrating the return of their councillor, hoping it signals a turning point in the ongoing battle against kidnappings in Kaduna State.
