The Kebbi State Police Command has dealt a major blow to criminal networks, arresting ten suspects linked to the murder of Garba Sufyanu and the abduction of his wife in Birnin Kebbi.
Police confirmed that the kidnapped victim, Zainab Mohammad, has been safely rescued and reunited with her family following a coordinated intelligence-driven operation.
Spokesman Bashir Usman revealed that operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID), working alongside the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the SCID, tracked and apprehended the suspects using credible intelligence and technical support.
Among those arrested are Zakariya Abubakar Diggi and Joseph Dahali Wanda, identified as SIM registration agents who allegedly facilitated the crime by fraudulently registering SIM cards used by kidnappers to negotiate ransom.
Other suspects—Sanda Alhaji, Mamman Abubakar Manu, Aisha Manu, Saudatu Abubakar, Abubakar Muhammad, Betuwa Muhammad, Abdullahi Umaru, and Ja’I Garba—are currently under investigation for their roles in the deadly operation, while efforts intensify to capture fleeing accomplices.
Commissioner of Police, Umar M Hadejia, praised the swift action and professionalism of the operatives, assuring residents that justice will be served as the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
The crackdown signals a renewed offensive against kidnapping and violent crime in Kebbi, as authorities tighten the noose on criminal syndicates.
