The 2024 Katsina State inter-local government football competition, known as the 2024 Governor’s Cup, has begun at the Umar Faruq Umar Township Stadium in Daura Town.
According to Sports Correspondent NSG, the competition’s opening ceremony featured football teams from the Zango and Mai’adua local governments.
Alh Surajo Mika’el, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youths and Sports, launched the competition on behalf of Sports Commissioner Aliyu Lawal Zakari.
The opening ceremony of this year’s competition was attended by famous sports celebrities from across the state as well as sports-loving fans.
The much-anticipated encounter between Zango and Mai’adua local governments football teams ended in favor of Zango, who emerged triumphant through Abubakar Muhammad’s single goal in the 57th minute.
The competition will continue at the various centers design to include Funtua, Malumfashi, Mani, Dutsinma, Kankia and Katsina.
