Kebbi Targets One Million in Massive Grain, Farm Inputs Rollout

Borno State Government

The Kebbi State Government has concluded arrangements to distribute assorted grains and modern farming inputs to one million vulnerable residents across the state in a bold move to strengthen food security and cut poverty.

The intervention package includes rice, maize, millet, corn, water pumps, power tillers, liquid fertilizer and knapsack sprayers — all aimed at boosting productivity and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

Speaking on the initiative, the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Shehu Mu’azu, said the gesture would primarily benefit farmer groups, including women, youths and persons with special needs, to ensure inclusive participation in agriculture.

He noted that smallholder farmers, who make up about 95 per cent of the farming population in Kebbi, remain the backbone of food production in the state and Nigeria at large.

According to him, sustained support through the provision of modern farm inputs would raise farmers’ morale, guarantee bumper harvests and ensure that citizens not only have enough to eat but also surplus for export.

The programme is expected to stimulate year-round farming activities and reposition Kebbi as a leading agricultural hub.
Details later.
