The First Lady of Kebbi State, Zainab Nasare-Nasir, has commended renowned philanthropist Tukur Wasoso for his sustained humanitarian support to vulnerable people in the state, urging other affluent individuals to emulate his generosity.
The First Lady made the call during the distribution of Sallah gifts and clothing to the less privileged in Jega.
In a statement issued by her Press Secretary, Khadija Sa’idu, Nasare-Nasir, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hajiya Aishatu Muhammad Maikurata, said acts of charity like Wasoso’s have a profound impact on the well-being of communities, particularly people living with special needs and other vulnerable groups.
She urged wealthy Nigerians to take inspiration from the philanthropist’s commitment to uplifting the underprivileged.
Speaking at the event, Wasoso disclosed that the initiative marked his 21st consecutive year of providing support to the needy during the holy month of Ramadan.
According to him, aside from distributing free Sallah clothes, he has also established a charity hospital in Jega that provides free medical services to women and children.
He added that he also founded a skills acquisition centre in Aliero where women and youths receive free vocational training and starter packs to enable them become self-reliant.
Wasoso expressed appreciation to the First Lady for her consistent support to the foundation over the past three years, including a ₦5 million donation, noting that about 10,000 people across Kebbi State would benefit from the Sallah clothing distribution this year.
Also speaking, the Sarkin Kabi of Jega, Arzika Bawa Jega, and the Coordinator of the NASARA Foundation, Alhaji Abdurasheed Bala, praised Wasoso’s long-standing philanthropy and called on other well-meaning individuals to support humanitarian causes across the state.
They described the initiative as a powerful example of community-driven compassion capable of transforming lives.
